The Centaur is a famous half-man, half-beast figure from Greek mythology. The horse represents the physical nature of human beings, while the human torso symbolises intellect. Often depicted with arrows, the Centaur also highlights the Sagittarian tendency towards constant challenges and targets in life.

Element: Fire

Sagittarius is another of the fire signs, and is known for its intuition and passion. Passion burns within, much like the flames of a fire, and can flare up when a Sagittarius is inspired.

Star-stone: Topaz

Legend has it that the Topaz stone has the widest ranging powers of all the star-stones. It was said to give the Greeks strength and relief from ailments such as asthma and insomnia. If a Topaz stone changed colour then it was also said to indicate poison.

Sagittarius have a great sense of fun and optimism, and enjoy being with people who share this philosophy in life. Freedom is also very important to this star sign, and friends or partners should avoid putting a Sagittarius in a claustrophobic situation.

Although generally an open-minded and trusting sign, there can also be issues with their frank and at times tactless way of expressing themselves. When bored, a Sagittarius' reckless attitude comes to the fore as well.

Compatibility charts show Sagittarius to be a match with the other fire signs of Aries and Leo, and the air signs of Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius. Astrology also states that there are two types of Sagittarius, the intellectuals, and the sporty types. Generally they will mix well with those that share the same interests, although their enthusiasm can draw other people in too. Non platonic relationships are known to flourish when they go beyond the physical and involve shared/complementary interests.
